Allen and Unwin 1955 7th overall impression, 2nd printing of the 2nd edition, with original condition jacket. This is an average condition copy of an increasing rare book. Few 2nd editions come on the market. This impression is particularly collectible because the jacket first mentions the availability of The Lord of the Rings. The 1954 impression mentions it "in preparation". The book has much foxing to end pages and the cover has some old damp damage, however there is no damp. The jacket has foxing to the underside with darkening to the spine. The jacket spine head has paper loss to right corner. However, overall there is not much paper loss which is unusual as they are quite brittle. It comes in protective mylar. This is a good example of this impress and priced lower for its faults.
