This set has appeared on television with our owner Mark Faith. See our website or other resources tab for more information. 1937 1st edition, 1st impression. Allen and Unwin. Very good book and original, unrestored very good jacket. Book corners have rubbing to cloth corners, slightly grubbiness to spine and three small date stamps front and rear end pages, not noticeable at first glance. Looks like a child was playing with their rubber stamp as there are no other marks or indications to explain them. The dust jacket has a 3 inch paper section missing from the top edge of the rear jacket cover and a smaller section on the cover. This could be restored, but we don’t recommend it. Overall, a very collectible copy and more affordable for the flaws mentioned. Comes with custom made clamshell protective case. You could spend £50,000 plus for a fine condition copy of this edition. Please ask for additional photos.
Please note, to improve the appearance of the rear cover, we'll include the back cover on a 1966 jacket which when place behind the original jacket in the protective sleeve, makes it more aesthetically pleasing. It is not attached in anyway. We do recommend to the purchaser the original jacket be kept safe and out of light and a facsimile be used to protect the book cover when handling. The paper on these first editions are prone to tearing with the slightest handling.
